The monthly open day at the Head of the Sequatchie Management Area, one of the access points on the Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail, is coming up 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. CST Saturday, Nov. 19.

Head of the Sequatchie refers to the spring where the Sequatchie River originates.

Visitors may hike the trails, view the entrance to Devilstep Cave, the Cave Springs schoolhouse and the Sherrill family cemetery.

The address is 225 Tranquility Lane in Pikeville, Tenn., but those familiar with the site say the turn off Old Highway 28 is easy to miss and GPS is unreliable.

Directions are posted at www.friendsofthecumberlandtrail.org.

For more information, call the Cumberland Trail main office at 423-566-2229 (open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday).
