So you got an engagement ring for Christmas and you've been dreaming of what your special day might look like?
Let us help you with that.
The Times Free Press is presenting its annual Bridal Affair on Sunday, Jan. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Chattanoogan hotel.
A variety of bridal industry experts will be located in one convenient location so engaged couples can comparison shop without driving all over town. Florists, bakers, bridal clothiers, photographers, DJs, caterers, venue owners — everyone you need to create a one-of-a-kind occasion — within walking distance of each other.
Bridal Affair is the largest locally produced bridal show in the city, and this year it's Chattanooga's first bridal fair of the season since the event has moved from its previous early March date into early January. Angela Doggett, TFP events manager, says about 50 wedding industry professionals are participating. These vendors will offer tastings, discounts, door prizes, giveaways and other special offers at their booths. They will answer couples' questions and even schedule appointments for further consultations.
Back by popular demand will be a runway show of fashions for the bridal party.
"Last year we tried using live models on platforms throughout the hotel," says Doggett. "It worked well for us, but this year we were asked by shops and attendees to bring back the runway fashion show."
That show gets underway at 2 p.m. in the hotel's ballroom. Gorgeous gowns, tuxes, fashions for the bridesmaids and moms will be presented by All Dressed Up Bridal Prom Tuxedo, David's Bridal, Ever After Bridal and Formal Wear, Monica's Bridal and Giorgio Men's Warehouse.
You might even win a honeymoon trip before you leave Sunday. The Times Free Press is giving away a "Remember Romance" getaway package from the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. You don't have to be present to win, but you do have to sign up for the drawing while you are at Formal Affair.
