Red Fez barbecue Sunday

For the 53rd year, the Red Fez Shrine Club will fire up the grills for a Sunday barbecue at Opossum Creek in Soddy-Daisy.

"We cook our own barbecue, make our own slaw and beans," said a news release from the club, part of the Alhambra Shriners. "For those who want that little extra, we offer ice cream, desserts and cold drinks."

The meal costs $7 per person. Desserts are $1 extra. Beverages are included for free with eat-in plates.

Serving hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests can eat in or carry out, and they can arrive by car or boat.

The street address is 1503 Lee Pike (from Highway 27, turn east on Highwater Road, then right on Old Dayton Pike and left on Lee Pike).

Boaters should look for mile marker 489.8 on Opossum Creek (the first left after the bridge). Dockings will be available with attendants.

Proceeds go toward upkeep of the club's lakefront property and the transportation fund to take patients to Shriners hospitals in Lexington, Ky., and Cincinnati.
