Last year's inaugural Ringgold Quilt Show went off so seamlessly that sponsor It's Sew Time has decided to make the show an annual event.

The second Ringgold Quilt Show opens Thursday, Aug. 16, in the historic Ringgold Depot, continuing through Saturday, Aug. 18. Doors open at 10 a.m. each day.

Organizer Kathy Graham says this show gives quilters an opportunity to display their quilts to others besides family members.

In addition to showing quilts to people who can appreciate the work involved, the show is a place for like-minded craftspeople to gather, compare and share ideas.

The event includes vendors displaying the latest and greatest in quilting supplies and sewing machines, a quilt raffle, hand-quilting demonstrations, a quilt contest and door prizes.

New this year: Ribbons in the quilt contest will be awarded by viewers' choices. Visitors Thursday and Friday may vote on their favorite designs and ribbons will be awarded to the quilts Saturday.
