You know the old joke: What's Santa's favorite drink? Beer-d.

There will be lots of Santa's favorite drink and cocktails - giving new meaning to "holiday spirits" - when the annual Santa Claus Pub Crawl is held Saturday, Dec. 15, at locations downtown and in the Southside.

The pub crawl is organized by Barrett Taylor at Gig City Productions. Sponsors include Yuengling, Recover 180, Pints & Pedals, KISS FM 103.7, WUSY US-101, ROCK 105 and all participating restaurants.

This downtown party allows adults to mingle and celebrate the holidays while supporting the Salvation Army. All that's needed to participate (register) is a new, unwrapped toy for donation to the Salvation Army. Come dressed in your favorite Santa suit or elf costume to add to the fun.

Registration and crawl kickoff will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Republic parking lot across from Hi-Fi Clyde's and next to Feed Co. Table & Tavern on Main Street. Participants will register at the Salvation Army table, where they will turn in their gifts and receive armbands.

"Generally, we get anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 toys at the pub crawl," says Kimberly George, Salvation Army director of marketing.

Buses will run from Hi-Fi Clyde's and Feed Co. to Patten Parkway and downtown between the hours of 6 to 8 p.m. It's also a good night to download Uber or Lyft apps so nobody will drink and drive.

Each stop on the pub crawl will offer raffles, drink and food specials during the designated times listed at right. But pub crawlers may visit any or all of the locations in any order they choose. Designated location hours overlap in order to prevent overcrowding in the venues.
