Fall isn't the only time for family fun at McDonald Farm in Sale Creek.

Each Friday and Saturday through July 7, the farm is opening its gates for Summer Farm Days. It's the same type of children's activities as offered in the fall, except replacing pumpkins with sunflowers.

Bring the family to the farm to play in the corn cribs, slide down giant slides from the hayloft onto hay bales, race pedal tractors, ride the cow coaster and visit critters in the newly redesigned critter barnyard.

Officials say the farm's beautiful sunflower field is blooming. They have planned a children's sunflower maze, which will be available depending on the growth of the sunflower crop, which may not be in bloom the entire Summer Farm Days season.

With so much to do, most visitors spend at least two hours at the farm.

To get there from Chattanooga: Drive north on Highway 27, taking the split to the right toward Dayton. After 9.8 miles, turn left onto the north entrance to Coulterville Road; you'll see the McDonald Farm sign right before the Rhea County line. Follow Coulterville Road a short distance, and the farm is on your right. Parking is available in the field.
