Vintage base ball returns to the Sixth Cavalry Museum in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, on Saturday, April 27, with three games at the polo field on Barnhardt Circle.

The tripleheader starts at 11 a.m. when the Lightfoot Club of Chattanooga plays the Nashville Maroons. At 1 p.m., Mountain City of Chattanooga plays the Quicksteps of Spring Hill, then Lightfoot Club takes on the Quicksteps at 3 p.m.

The games are free. Spectators should bring folding chairs for seating since there are no bleachers.

Vintage base ball (which uses two words instead of one) is a form of living history as it uses rules, uniforms and gear of the 1860s. Pitchers throw the ball underhanded from 45 feet away, no gloves are used and bases are 12-inch squares.

Umpires are called arbiters, the batter is a striker and a player is a ballist.
