Hidden within the 2,388-foot summit of Lookout Mountain is the deepest and tallest underground waterfall open to the public in the United States. More than half a million guests visit Ruby Falls cavern annually to see this natural wonder.

But for Valentine's Day, Ruby Falls is offering a more private, romantic visit: Romance at Ruby.

This date night includes a special lantern tour of the cavern and waterfall, a professional keepsake photo and gift. Couples will hear tales of legendary local romances including the love story of Leo Lambert and his wife, Ruby, which led to the discovery of Ruby Falls.

Tours begin between 9 and 9:45 p.m., with varying times offered Feb. 9-17. Tour sizes are limited to 12 couples, so reservations are required. The tour ticket is $69.95 per couple.

Couples will stroll along the Ruby Falls cavern trail with only the soft glow of hand-held lanterns to light their way while an expert guide shares romantic stories.

"Love played a major role in our history, making Romance at Ruby a very special event for us," says Hollie Baranick, tours and special projects manager.

"The romance of the waterfall and an epic love story combined with the relaxed pace of the tour make for an unforgettable way to spend time together."

Guests are encouraged to check in 30 minutes prior to their tour time to enjoy the view from Lookout Mountain tower.
