Want to go back to school with some bucks in your pocket? Then take advantage of this weekend's sales tax holiday to fill school-supply lists, buy backpacks and school uniform apparel.
Tennessee's 2019 tax-free weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 26, and continues through Sunday, July 28, at 11:59 p.m.
What items are tax-free?
» Clothing marked $100 or less. For example: shirts, pants, jackets, socks, shoes, dresses.
» School supplies and art supplies with a purchase price of $100 or less per item.
» Computers with a purchase price of $1,500 or less. This includes laptops as well as tablets. Computers must be for personal, not business, use.
Technology that is not included: cellphones/smart phones, video-game consoles, computer parts such as keyboards and monitors not sold with a CPU, electronic readers, computer printers, flash drives and compact discs.
