The Harrison Ruritan Club is sponsoring its 15th open car show Sunday, May 26, at the Tennessee Riverpark on Amnicola Highway.

This is the club's biggest fundraiser of the year, says Don Ramey, co-chairman of the show with Jim Holcomb. Proceeds are used to fund the club's community service projects, such as presenting college scholarships to students at Central High School, presenting citizenship awards and donating to the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department to support its Christmas fund for children and purchases of new equipment.

Car owners can begin cruising in at 8 a.m. If they register in advance, the entry fee is $20. If registering at the gate, the fee is $25. Admission is free to spectators; concessions will be sold on-site.

The Ruritans will host a church service on-site at 11 a.m., open to anyone wishing to attend.

Registration for the show will begin at 8 a.m. and continue to noon, when judging begins. Dash plates will be given to the first 150 registered, and door prizes awarded throughout the afternoon.

The club presents Top 5 trophies in 21 classes of cars, trucks and motorcycles. Seven specialty trophies are also awarded: Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, Most Unique, Best Tire & Wheel, Best Club Participation and Best of Show.

The car show will be held rain or shine. Information and registration forms can be found at harrison ruritanclub.webs.com.
