The audience will help comedian Mutzie "raise the roof" when he performs a benefit in Dalton, Georgia, on Sunday, March 1.

The comedy show and fundraiser will be held in Artistic Civic Theatre, 907 Gaston St. in Dalton. Tickets are $23.

This benefit will help Providence Ministry expand and update its women's shelter from 1,500 to 4,200 square feet. The shelter offers temporary accommodations for homeless women and their children while the mother addresses the economic, social and spiritual issues that led to their homelessness.

Mutzie has been a professional comedian for nearly 30 years. His shows are known for mingling improv with his stand-up act because even though he has hundreds of jokes, he prefers to interact with his audiences for about half the show.

Audience members may recognize him from the six seasons he spent on BET's "Comic View."

He was twice named New Orleans' Entertainer of the Year and won the Funniest Person in Louisiana contest three times.

Tickets are $11 for his 7:30 p.m. shows Thursday and Sunday. Tickets are $16 for the 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. shows either Friday or Saturday.
