Don't let the August heat keep you from getting outside and seeing some live music this month, because there is plenty of it to go around.

The Nightfall Concert Series ends the last Friday in August, giving locals five more opportunities to catch the variety of headliners and local acts. Sharing weekends this month is the annual Riverfront Nights series, which happens each Saturday night at Ross's Landing through Aug. 24.

On its heels, the Levitt AMP Chattanooga Music Series will return to the Bessie Smith Cultural Center's lawn, bringing an amazing lineup that includes The Hamiltones scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22, and Valerie June on Thursday, Aug. 29.

A one-time event that is also returning this month is the Rail & Hops Brewers Festival. Taking place in the gardens behind the Chattanooga Choo Choo on Saturday, Aug. 24, this event filled a gap last year with the absence of the Southern Brewers Festival, and obviously found enough success to come back for a second year. Featuring craft beer from local and regional brewers, the event also includes local food and lots of live local music. This year's diverse lineup features Courtney Reid, The Afternooners, Oweda and headliner Opposite Box.

An explosive force in the Chattanooga music scene, Opposite Box continues to tour regionally, building their audience and perfecting their craft. Part experimental, part psychedelic, part jazz and funk, this four-piece band is known to put on a high-energy live show, which should be perfect for the mood of the festival as the sun goes down and the beer keeps flowing.
