The Southside's new Moxy Hotel, targeting the millennial traveler with its party atmosphere and Instagram-friendly décor, starts a visit to the Scenic City off right at check-in, giving guests a token good for one of the hotel's signature cocktails.

Locals can also grab a drink at the hotel's always-open bar. Our favorite is a twist on the classic whiskey sour called the Boxcar Tourist, a term coined in the '50s to describe hobos traveling by freight train, offering a nod to the nearby Chattanooga Choo Choo.

"This drink is an easy gateway to drinking whiskey for those who are hesitant to do so," says Veronica Morgan, who created the drink especially for the Chattanooga Moxy. "I wanted to feature our local pals over at Chattanooga Whiskey but do so in a Moxy way. It's not complicated, but it's unexpected."

What you need:

2 ounces Chattanooga Whiskey 1816 Reserve

1/3 ounce lemon juice

1/3 ounce simple syrup

1/2 ounce White Girl Rosé

Lemon wheel, for garnish

What you do:

Add the first three ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and give a vigorous shake. Strain into a tulip glass (straight) and top with rosé. Garnish with a lemon wheel in the middle of the drink and serve.
