Ready to get out of town this spring? Whether you're looking for a romantic weekend, a week of bonding and good times with friends, or family fun in warmer climes, here are a few of the destinations on our radar.
Couples getaway
Rhett House Inn, Beaufort, South Carolina
The historic Rhett House Inn has played host to celebrities including Ben Affleck, Gwyneth Paltrow and Barbara Streisand. It's no wonder so many movies are set in Beaufort, which is dripping with romance and Spanish moss. The Rhett House is in a great location to explore all the town has to offer. You'll love the screened porch, in-room gas fireplaces and complimentary after-dinner desserts.
Friends trip
Savannah, Georgia
Savannah hosts one of the largest St. Patrick's Day festivities in the country, including a massive parade, the "greening" of the city's famous Forsyth fountain and the freedom to legally carry your open alcohol container in the streets (which is permitted yearround in Savannah). From March 11-12, you can check out the Savannah Stopover music festival on the grounds of the Georgia State Railroad Museum. This year features headliners including Of Montreal, Soccer Mommy and American Aquarium.
Family beach trip
Anna Maria Island, Florida
If your kiddos have a March spring break, you'll need to head fairly far south to swim comfortably on a beach trip. Located south of Tampa and north of Sarasota, Anna Maria Island is a quaint and cozy beach town that's just the right temperature for a spring trip. Stay at Waterline Villas & Marina, part of Mariott's Autograph Collection, located on beautiful Holmes Beach and one of the newest and nicest properties on the island. Located across from the beach, the resort has a beach club that offers chair and umbrella rentals (which is otherwise rare on the island, so if you're renting a place be sure to rent chairs and umbrellas beforehand and have them delivered to your accommodations).
