Help provide local sports teams with items they need by getting things you want at the Signal Mountain Middle/High School Sports Boosters' annual Red & Black Auction, a live and silent auction set for Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 7-11 p.m.

Organizers are moving the event off the mountain this year, to The Westin Hotel, where they've booked a block of rooms for attendees who want to extend the evening into a Valentine's "staycation," said event coordinator Arlina Hensley. A limited number of rooms are available at a discounted rate of $159 per room.

The auction features more than 100 items, including restaurant and dry cleaning gift cards, artwork, baskets filled with whiskey and wine, a family season pass for all middle and high school home games, and much more. Teams receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of each donated item collected by their team, she said.

"It's a fun way to raise money to provide what they need for their teams," Hensley said of the event, which is the Sports Boosters' main fundraiser of the year.

The auction is open to everyone, not just Signal Mountain residents and sports team parents, she emphasized.

Tickets are $150 per couple or $75 per individual up to Friday, Feb. 11. At the door they'll cost an additional $25 per person. Visit gosmeagles.com to purchase tickets in advance or to reserve a room at The Westin.
