The Signal Mountain Middle/High School Sports Boosters is hosting its annual Red & Black Auction at The Westin Chattanooga Saturday, Feb. 8 from 6:30-11 p.m.

All the middle and high school athletic teams are asked to donate items to auction, and the money paid for each item sold goes back to the team that donated it.

This year's auction features more than 100 items, including vacation homes, college sports tickets, wine and spirits baskets, tailgating supply baskets, and concert tickets.

"It's a venue for teams to generate money for themselves, and we also use the event to try to celebrate and acknowledge coaches and athletes," said event organizer Arlina Hensley.

If purchased online by Feb. 5, tickets are $75 per person or $150 per couple. Tickets will also be available at the door for an additional $25 per person. Ticket prices cover the cost of putting on the event, which includes heavy hors d'oeuvres. There will also be a cash bar.

This is the first year sponsorship opportunities have been offered for the event, and three different levels are available: $500, $1,000 and $3,000, said Hensley.

The entire community is welcome to attend, not just those who have kids who play sports for the school, she added.
