Date opened: The first location opened on Spring Creek Road in East Ridge in June 2013. The new North Shore office opened five years later, in June 2018.
The team: Two female pediatricians, Drs. Umbar Shah and Zara Memon; and nurse practitioner Jennifer Booth work at both locations.
Background: Shah and Memon each have 9-12 years of experience practicing in Chattanooga, and broke away from their previous group to form Chattanooga Children's Clinic in 2013. Memon, a North Chattanooga resident, came to the area from Seattle, Wash. Shah, who lives in East Brainerd, moved to Chattanooga after completing her training in upstate New York. Both doctors have three children.
The new North Shore location of Chattanooga Children's Clinic is now open.Services: The practice provides annual checkups, sports physicals, same-day sick visits and immunizations for children from birth to age 21. Chattanooga Children's Clinic also offers treatment for asthma, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, obesity and more.
What sets them apart: In addition to all major insurance, both locations accept coverage through Tennessee's and Georgia's Medicaid programs. The bilingual practice also offers an on-site translator for Spanish-speaking patients. "We've seen more of an influx because we provide that service," said Shah.
Locations: 604 Black St., off of Cherokee Boulevard on the North Shore; and 403 Spring Creek Road, off of Brainerd Road in East Ridge.
Hours: Both locations are open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
