Elizabeth Silva and her husband, Christopher, are bringing a splash of Vegas to Middle Valley with the opening of Elizabeth's Beauty Salon.
Before opening the full-service salon in June, the two moved to the Chattanooga area from Las Vegas, where they owned three salons that catered to the eccentric residents of Vegas and the performers at the casinos.
Elizabeth has been in the profession for 46 years. Her experience and expertise came from working with the unique styles of Vegas showgirls. From wacky colors and intricate hairdos to the chic and sophisticated, Elizabeth has seen and done it all, her husband said.
"She can do any kind of hair coloring and styles because of her experience with a variety of different people in Las Vegas," said Christoper.
Joan Farrell, the salon's first customer, is excited to now be a regular patron of the new business, and spoke very highly of Elizabeth and her professionalism.
"She wasn't hurried. She took her time with me, which a lot of other places don't," said Farrell. "She's very thorough and very warm. She likes to converse and she seemed genuinely interested in who she's talking to."
In the few months since the beauty parlor opened, Farrell said she has already been in twice.
"[Elizabeth] brings a freshness to the salon, even though she's spent so many years in the business. I love that she's kept her enthusiasm across the decades," said Farrell.
The salon is fairly small, but has plenty of room for several customers to be helped at one time. As of right now, Elizabeth is the only hairdresser, but she hopes to hire more help soon in order to accommodate appointments at the same time.
Appointments and walk-ins are both welcomed. She offers cuts, colors, extensions, highlights, pedicures, perms, facial waxes and more. Prices start at $22 for a woman's haircut and $45 for a color. Men and children have their own price brackets.
