Owners: Nick and Melissa Murray, who met in the ROTC program while in college at the University of Kentucky. Both joined the U.S. Air Force, and visited Chattanooga on weekends while stationed for two years at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. They left the Air Force in March and relocated to Chattanooga, purchasing the local franchise of CertaPro Painters.

Services: Interior and exterior painting or repainting on renovated or remodeled properties (no new construction).

Service mentality: While in the Air Force, Nick did construction contracting at the base in Georgia as well as in the United Kingdom and Iceland. "I know there's usually a little bit of a lack of customer service," he said of the construction industry, adding that he hopes to use his experience to offer service on which customers can rely.

Company culture: One of the main things he liked about CertaPro Painters is the company's culture of putting the customer first. He was also drawn to the company's focus on taking care of its painters, which he said allows him to recruit top-notch crews - like the eight painters he uses for most jobs. "We treat our painters like family," said Murray. "They're really the most important asset that we have."

Location: Based on the Southside at 55 E. Main St., Suite 208, the business serves the Chattanooga metro area, with the majority of customers in Ooltewah, Hixson, Lookout Mountain and East Brainerd.
