Residents can check out the variety of businesses on the Southside while entering to win prizes at the Southside Business Crawl, an event being hosted by the Southside Chamber Council on Thursday, April 11, from 1-7 p.m. The crawl follows the council's monthly meeting, to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at green|spaces, and ends with an after-party at Frothy Monkey beginning at 7 p.m. featuring refreshments and drink specials for crawl participants.

"We have a lot of diverse businesses in our footprint," said Hailey Tielkemeier, vice president of communication for the council. "One of the goals of the chamber is to promote business and commerce, and we felt like this was a good way to get people to these businesses by giving them a reason to go."

Each business will provide an activity or refreshments, and participants will be entered to win a prize from each business they visit. People who visit all the businesses will be entered to win the grand prize, she said.

This is the council's second time holding a business crawl, the first of which was held in November of last year, said Tielkemeier.

This year's event includes 16 businesses in the council's footprint, which goes from Main Street south to the Georgia state line, west to St. Elmo and Lookout Valley and east to the ridge cut.

"It's a great way to explore and connect with your community, which I think is important," she said.
