Name: Cannon Drugs
Owners: Heather Staton and Neal Florence
Date opened: Dec. 17, 2018
Offerings: Independently owned and run, the neighborhood pharmacy has a large selection of over-the-counter medications and vitamin products in store, and will offer immunizations in the fall.
Convenience: The pharmacy has a drive-thru service, delivers to patients in Chickamauga and the surrounding area, and also offers a 24-hour automated refill service.
Consultation: The pharmacy offers quick consultations with its pharmacists, who are available to answer any questions patrons might have. "We try to be here to talk to everybody," said pharmacist manager Casey Smith. "We pride ourselves on having a pharmacist here that's each patient's personal medication expert."
What sets Cannon apart: "We're not here to serve a corporation or a large company - we're gonna do what we think is best for the patient," Smith said. "If we need to call the doctor, if we need to take the extra step to get the right drug called in or find some alternative for a patient, then we go the extra mile to do that."
Community reception: "Chickamauga's been very welcoming to us; they've been great," said Smith. Community members came out to give the neighborhood pharmacy a warm welcome during its official ribbon-cutting ceremony March 7.
