The Southern Adventist University Student Association is holding its first-ever 423 Night Market, featuring handcrafted items, food and services provided by students and employees of the school.
The event is set for Saturday, March 23 from 9-11 p.m. at The Commons in Collegedale.
The concept for the market is based on a similar event, the 626 Night Market, held in Student Association President Rhidge Garcia's native state of California. The purpose is to build and add value to the community by giving the university's students and employees the opportunity to discover and utilize their talents, he said.
The local market will feature 54 vendors selling food from around the world, handmade pottery, art, desserts and more, as well as providing services such as haircuts, eyebrow threading and waxing, said Garcia.
"It's a fun event to enjoy the community and help empower future leaders and business owners in our society," he said.
The market also fits with the school's mission, Garcia added.
"We're not only a university where you can go to get your degree; we're a university that helps you discover your passion and align that with the purpose that God has for them," he said.
The Commons is at 4950 Swinyar Drive.
