Exploding onto the food scene, Brewhaus’ kamikaze cakes are a deliciously surprising addition to its spring menu. Made using market-fresh fish — which is poached, spiced and pan-fried — the dish is reminiscent of a salmon patty, “but nicer,” said kitchen manager Chris Lipscomb. The tangy vinegar slaw the cakes are served with adds a light and refreshing flavor that’s perfect for kicking off May.

Throughout the month, Brewhaus is featuring Bell’s Brewery, keeping a rotating selection of the Michigan-based craft brewery’s beers on tap. Then, on Sunday, May 20, the restaurant will once again celebrate the Ironman 70.3 by hosting a parking lot party similar to the one it held last year, complete with games, music, a beer trailer and more.

In addition to food specials and special events, each week Brewhaus hosts a number of fun activities. On Mondays it offers $3 half liters of select brews; on Tuesdays it hosts trivia beginning at 7 p.m.; and on Sundays the restaurant features brunch, with a menu as explosive as its kamikaze cakes. For example, the “Bismarck” dish is a German-inspired take on eggs Benedict, made with schnitzel, topped with hollandaise sauce and sprinkled with Gouda and paprika.

Indeed, between its unique fare and hip gatherings, Brewhaus is the place to be this May.
