» Owner: Marriott International is the franchise owner and local hotels are developed by independent operators

» History: The millennial-focused brand debuted in September 2014 with the opening of the Moxy Milan. The first U.S. Moxy opened in New Orleans in 2016.

» Chattanooga location: 3H Hotels opened a 108-room Moxy at Market Street and King Streets in November.

» Local design: The four-story, $19 million Chattanooga Moxy was designed by Celano Design Studio to highlight an eclectic mix of art, entertainment and people from the Southside neighborhood.

» Expansion plans: With more than 35 Moxy hotels already across the U.S., new Moxy hotels are planned this year in the Southeast in Midtown Atlanta, Memphis, Louisville and in both downtown and Vanderbilt areas of Nashville.

» Distinctions: Marriott brags that Moxy hotels have the heart of a boutique hotel and an appetite for adventure. There's a drink waiting for you with your room key when you check in at the bar, which is always open. Each room includes tech-enabled features such as motion sensor lighting; internet TV in-room featuring Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Pandora and Crackle; selfie photo booth elevators; Moxy Digital Guestbook; abundant power and USB outlets; and Moxy 'B&F' (beverage & food) strategy that offers 24/7 self-service to give guests access to what they want, when they want it. "We threw out the hotel rule book in order to create hotel experiences that will bring out the local flavor and energy of the cities they are in with thoughtful touches and bold programming," says Vicki Poulos, senior global brand director of Moxy Hotels.
