Who's on the move in Chattanooga's business community and where are they going?

Patrick Jones joins Franklin Wealth Management as a wealth plan analyst. Previously, Jones spent more than a decade as a professional musician, chaplain, and music ministry leader before earning an MBA at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to pursue a career in finance. At Franklin Wealth Management, Jones is mostly involved in back-office work including research, trading, portfolio management, and market strategy. He is currently pursuing becoming a CFA Charter holder.

Dr. Kathleen Mitchell joins Erlanger providing OB-GYN services to the women of the Chattanooga region. In her previous role, Dr. Mitchell was an OB-GYN physician with Beacon Health Associates for 24 years, where she served on the board of directors for six years. She earned both a Masters of Public Health degree and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Loma Linda University in California. Following her medical education, Dr. Mitchell completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, where she also served as administrative chief resident and clinical assistant professor.

Julius Dodds is named Dean of Academic Success at Chattanooga State Community College in a recent announcement made by Dr. Beth Norton, vice president, Academic Affairs who shared that Dodds has been serving as the director of Academic Retention since 2011 where he has led the Achieving the Dream and Title III Strengthening Institutions grant work. Prior to his work at the College, Julius served as Director of Retention and Advisement at UTC and he has served in leadership roles at other colleges where he managed academic initiatives.

Amy Silvers, CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner), is named executive director for East Ridge Residence, an independent living community in East Ridge managed by Signal Mountain-based Veritas Senior Living. Silvers, a native of Midland, Michigan, oversees all of the day-to-day operations and manage all employees of the senior residential community. She has had an extensive background in independent living communities and skilled nursing facilities for the past 18 years. She said that to serve the senior population, improve their life in any capacity and make their day a little bit better has got to be among one of the greatest feelings on earth.

Tracy Sherman joins The Trust Company of Tennessee as client service associate in the firm's Chattanooga office. Daniel Carter, president of The Trust Company of Tennessee said that Sherman brings a wealth of experience in the financial services industry, and is a great resource for internal teams and clients. Sherman earned a bachelor's degree in international relations from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Previously, she was a senior administrative specialist for HomeServe in Chattanooga, and served 21 years as office manager for financial services firm Brown Brothers Harriman in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mike Matousek is named a senior loan officer for BrightBridge Capital, a Community Development Financial Institution. Matousek brings more than two decades of experience to the new role and has previously served as a commercial banker, CFO and credit advisor over his career. The Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Clemson University began his career as a credit analyst and has worked in various positions that have provided a diverse skillset that will be utilized in his new position. Matousek also is a volunteer with SCORE, the largest business mentoring organization in the country.

Amie Thomas is promoted to chief financial officer with NAI Charter Real Estate. She began her career with NAI Charter in 2003 as the company accountant after graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance. In her new role, Thomas handles all the financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting for the corporate accounts, as well as the property management accounts.

Robert Rhea is named director of food and beverage at McLemore, the golf resort and residential community atop Lookout Mountain. Rhea most recently served as director of food and beverage at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston, Autograph Collection. Prior to his tenure in Charleston, Rhea worked at the Madeline Hotel and Residences in Telluride, Colorado; Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas in Page, Arizona, Hilton Cabana in Miami Beach; Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri and Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida.

Taryn Balwinski is promoted to Goodwill's new Job Connection Center. For the last 15 years, Balwinski has been working her way up through Goodwill, inspiring and training others along the way. She's held roles in store sales and processing, as an Administrative Assistant, Human Resources Coordinator, and Volunteer and Mission Services Coordinator. Now as the first point of contact at Goodwill's new Job Connection Center, Balwinski is focused on helping others to achieve their career goals. The center is located next to the Goodwill store at 7601 East Brainerd Rd in Chattanooga.

Jeremy Jenkins joins RP Homes as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Jenkins is responsible for leading the company's investment and financial strategy as well as overseeing the operations of the company and establishing policies that promote RP's culture and vision, and he comes to RP Homes from Regions Bank where he brings more than 16 years of management and commercial banking experience. Most recently at Regions, Jenkins held the title of Vice President and Commercial Banking Relationship Manager where he oversaw a portfolio of complex middle-market commercial clients. He was also responsible for the analysis, structuring and negotiation of all credit products as well as the execution of depository and treasury services.
