Location: On the eastern side of Missionary Ridge, facing away from Chattanooga.
Size: With an area of only 0.2 square mile, and 160 homes, Ridgeside is the smallest of Hamilton County's 10 municipalities.
Alternative name: Ridgeside is often referred to by its subdivision name: Shepherd Hills.
Government: Candice Poole heads the three-person City Commission. Sonny Sanders and High Moore are the other commissioners. The commission meets four times per year, often at Greater Emmanuel Church on Tunnel Boulevard - outside Ridgeside's city limits. The next election is in 2014.
Schools: There are none within Ridgeside. The city is in the East Ridge High School zone, and it is also close to McCallie School. Some McCallie faculty members live in Ridgeside.
Traditions: Residents display luminaria in front of their homes at Christmas time. Ridgeside also hosts potluck dinners by the pool on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
Attraction: Ridgeside derives its name from the eastern slope of Missionary Ridge, where it is located. The community pool attracts members inside and outside the municipality's borders.
