Along the Tennessee River and its many rushing tributaries, dams provide flood control, river navigation and hydropower - as well as ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Many of these sites boast beaches, overlooks, hiking trails, fishing piers and more.

This summer, in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, we'll be showcasing some of the state's most action-packed dams. All within a day's drive and fun for the whole family, these destinations are sure to be a dam good time.

MELTON HILL DAM

A unique asset for TVA, the lovely campground at the Melton Hill Reservoir Recreation Area features a swim beach, picnic area, boat ramp - and a zero-energy campground equipped with solar panels, a wind turbine, LED lighting, low-flow water systems and built from recycled materials.
