The Wilderness Society, a national nonprofit conservation organization, partnered with GreenSteps, a Chattanooga-based stewardship nonprofit, to help clean up the Tennessee Riverwalk at Chickamauga Dam.

Local do-gooders, including several fishermen, turned out for the event, designed to call attention to the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which has helped fund open spaces - including the Chickamauga Dam - and which, without congressional reauthorization, will expire on Sept. 30.
