The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Branch of the NAACP and Rhyme N Chatt poetry group are partnering to present the fourth Black Ink poetry and spoken word contest. Black Ink is a poetry contest that focuses on black history.
The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 20, beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Rock Point Books, 401 Broad St. Competitors should arrive by 11:45 a.m.
Monday is the deadline to enter. Poems must be original works, and free of vulgarity or derogatory content. The poet must read his work aloud and be present to win cash prizes awarded at the conclusion of the contest.
Entrants will be divided into the adult division, ages 18 and older, and youth division, ages 17 and under.
