Author Robert Jones will conduct a lecture at the Southern Museum in Kennesaw, Ga., today at 2 p.m. entitled "Retracing the Route of Sherman's March to the Sea."
Mr. Jones is the president of the Kennesaw Historical Society and author of several books, including "Retracing the Steps of a General -- Following In the Footsteps of the Andrews Raid" and "Images of America: Kennesaw."
Mr. Jones will lead a discussion of the historical background of Gen. W.T. Sherman's 1864 march across Georgia, which ended in the capture of Savannah. He will discuss the cities and towns destroyed along Sherman's path, as well as the monuments that have been erected in tribute to the historical events associated with the march.
The free lecture will be in the museum's Jolley Education Center. Museum admission is $7.50 adults, $6.50 seniors, $5.50 for children ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and under.
