Looking Ahead

* June 5-6: The Chattanooga Area Food Bank's 23rd annual Garden Tour features the private gardens of Jery and Donna Smolinski, Mike and Stephanie Payne, Janet Wasetis, and Michael and Dawn Edens as well as the Portera Herb and Sculpture Garden in the Bluff View Art District. Also, tour the Food Bank's new Evelyn Davenport Navarre Teaching and Enabling Garden, the beneficiary of funds raised by the tour. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 1-6 p.m. Sunday. $15 tickets available at all gardens (free for children under 12). * June 8: "Orchids 101," a free presentation from members of the Tennessee Valley Orchid Society and The Orchid Gallery, will teach beginners the art of growing orchids, 7 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. at Coolidge Park. Registration not necessary. 886-2950.

* June 14: Members of Green Thumb Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. in the east room at Collegedale City Hall, 4910 Swinyer Drive. The topic will be making the most of summer annuals and getting tips for preparing for fall gardens. 238-3647.
