Ronald McDonald House Charities announces scholarship recipients

Forty-one local students in the graduating class of 2011 have received $1,000 scholarships through the Ronald McDonald House Charities' scholarships program.

Students were selected based on their grade-point averages, community involvement, letters of recommendation and financial need. As part of the application process, students also were interviewed by a committee of local volunteers. The scholarship may be used toward either college tuition or books/expenses.

Four scholarships also were awarded from the RMHC Scholars program, the RMHC/Future Achievers program for black high-school seniors, the RMHC/ASIA program for Asian high-school seniors, and the RMHC/HACER program for Latino seniors.
