Palate 2 Palette

Southside galleries showcase arts

The opening of a new Youth Gallery tonight will kick off Palate 2 Palette, a celebration of visual, culinary and floral arts to benefit the Craniofacial Foundation of America.

During the main event Saturday, nine Southside galleries will offer displays of art and floral designs as well as food and wine. Menus are planned with the theme of the gallery in mind.

"By showcasing so many facets of the arts, there is something for everyone's palate," said Terry Smyth, executive director of the foundation. "Our hope is to showcase our city by creating an evening that pays tribute to some of our business owners, restaurants, chefs, caterers and the talented artists that make Chattanooga such a great place to visit or live, which in turn helps the CFA to make the difference in the life of a child one face at a time."

CFA supports work of the Tennessee Craniofacial Center at T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital and Erlanger hospital.

The foundation can provide financial support for nonmedical expenses, educational opportunities and support services for patients and families, Smyth said.

The Youth Gallery, 12 W. 13th St., is a new element of P2P. It features juried art by students from 14 public and private high schools. Some students will have their artwork for sale, and they will give back 10 percent of their sales to the CFA.
