In celebration of Women's History Month, Chattanooga's Department of Education, Arts & Culture will show a double feature of films by director Ida Lupino. "The Hitchhiker" and "The Bigamist" will be screened twice today, March 21, as part of the monthly Film Noir Series at Heritage House, 1428 Jenkins Road.

The matinee showing is at 2 p.m. Doors open at 7 for the evening showing.

"The Hitch-Hiker" (1953) is considered by many, including Lupino herself, to be her best film. It stars Edmond O'Brian and Frank Lovejoy as Americans vacationing in Mexico whose lives are taken over by a psychopathic serial killer played by Emmett Myers.

Lupino directed and starred in "The Bigamist" (1953), which also featured O'Brian, along with Joan Fontaine and Edmund Gwenn. It explores the double identity of a traveling salesman whose distant relationship with his first wife leads him to marry another woman. When his first wife wants to adopt a child, the adoption agency begins to investigate his private life. In a second twist, his second wife announces she is pregnant.

Admission is free. For more information, call 423-855-9474.
