CSO playing free Veterans Day concert tonight

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present a free Veterans Day concert tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Auditorium, 399 McCallie Ave.

This is the fifth consecutive year the CSO has presented a family-friendly concert for veterans, their families and the public. CSO Music Director Kayoko Dan will conduct the concert.

The CSO brass and percussion ensembles will play a program of patriotic favorites, joined by the Lee University Singers directed by Brad Moffett.

Support for this free performance is provided by EPB Fiber Optics and the Tivoli Foundation.

Krystal honoring military for Veterans Day

The Krystal Co. is observing Veterans Day by offering a complimentary sausage biscuit to all active military personnel or veterans today between 6 and 11 a.m.

Guests must show military ID in order to be served. The sausage biscuit offer is good for dine-in or drive-through guests while supplies last.

All locations in Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tenn., as well as Dalton, Ga., are participating, according to a company news release.

Sales at Mellow Mushroom supporting Rolling Thunder

Mellow Mushroom restaurants at 205 Broad St. and 2318 Lifestyle Way are hosting give-back events today from 11 a.m. to midnight in observance of Veterans Day.

Ten percent of today's sales will be donated to Rolling Thunder Inc., a national nonprofit whose mission is to remember prisoners of war and military personnel still missing in action from all wars until they are accounted for.

Two Complete Joint Readiness Training

U.S. Army Reserve Specialist Blake Waters of Chattanooga and U.S. Army Pvt. Austin Chambers of Trenton, Ga., were members of a task force with the New York Army National Guard's 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team to complete a joint force readiness training exercise at Fort Polk, La.

More than 5,000 participants from 30 states spent a month at Fort Polk as part of the training rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center. Their experience included deployment and staging at Fort Polk, followed by more than 10 days of offensive and defensive missions.

Free admission to Point Park today

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is waiving entrance fees to Point Park on Lookout Mountain today in celebration of Veterans Day. The free admission applies to all park visitors, including commercial tour entrance fees. For more information, call 706-866-9241.
