Q: How can I keep up my plan to exercise regularly?

A: Here are tips to stay on track: Set a regular time every day to exercise; be consistent. Plan to exercise five to six days a week, so you'll still get in at least three sessions if your hectic schedule or the weather interferes. No after-work "screen time" (TV, video games or computer) until you've exercised. Get a friend or family member to exercise with you, so you're committed to each other. Use an app on your smartphone or Fitbit to count the number of steps and the distance you go every day. Your goal should be at least 10,000 steps per day, but some people need more intense exercise to lose weight. Vary your routine if you burn out easily; try walking, a spin class, yoga, hikes, swimming, weight lifting, etc. Record your progress as the number of days you exercise per week, not pounds lost day-to-day.
