Another week, another step closer to winning "The Voice."

Jordan Smith, the 21-year-old tenor who attends Lee University, advanced into the top 10 contestants on "The Voice" during Tuesday night's results show on NBC.

Smith's emotional performance of Jessie J's "Who You Are" on Monday night put the audience on its feet for yet another standing ovation, a weekly response that has become so expected that it would be more surprising if it didn't occur.

The song's message "be true to who you are" has been Smith's mantra throughout Season 9, as  the  singer has shared his personal self-esteem battles related to possessing a voice that is higher than the norm for an adult male.

Obviously choking back tears at the song's conclusion, he told host Carson Daly it "just felt good to say it's OK not to be OK," quoting a line from the chorus.

Coach Pharrell Williams told Smith that his "attention to detail is remarkable to watch" but that listeners could "feel Jordan's intention" when he sang and that was one of the most important things about his performance.

Smith's coach and mentor, Adam Levine, revealed that off-screen the singer has been dealing with insecurity about his performances.

"But you are one of the best performers I know," praised the front man for Maroon Five. "You sing like you do, but also do it with conviction that keeps everyone mesmerized and with you every second of the way, and that's what matters when you are performing."

Smith again cracked the Top 10 on iTunes' singles chart for downloads of his performance of "Who You Are." Although he didn't match his previous week's record of No. 1, Smith was No. 10 Tuesday morning, as high as eighth by noon, then slipped to 10 by evening.

One contestant will be eliminated next week, then the Top 9 will be slashed to four contestants the following week. The final four will sing for the  "Voice" title on Dec. 14.
