A day's worth of video, board and lawn games is set next month to help raise money for children being treated at Children's Hospital at Erlanger.

Set for Saturday, Nov. 7, the event will raise money for Extra Life, a program within the national gaming community. Gamers promise to play games for 24 hours to raise money for pediatric patients at 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across North America. Children's Hospital at Erlanger is one of the network's hospitals.

Local gamers who want to participate can register and set up a fundraising account at www.extra-life.org, selecting Children's Hospital at Erlanger as the recipient of any money raised. Gamers ask their friends and family to financially support their "game day."

"Chattanooga gamers raised $7,898 during last year's game day," Rebecca Brinkley, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals director for Children's Hospital at Erlanger, said in a news release. "All funds raised through Extra Life by area gamers will stay local to support the ongoing mission of building a new children's hospital for our region."

Since 2008, Extra Life, created by Jeromy 'Doc' Adams, a former radio personality and gamer, has raised more than $14 million benefiting 170 CMN Hospitals across North America.
