First Lutheran Church, 2800 McCallie Ave., will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. with a pre-service. The Lutheran Reformation Hymn Festival: Celebrating the Hymns and Writings of Martin Luther will begin at 6 p.m.

This hymn festival celebrates the writings and musical contributions of Martin Luther. All nine of the Chattanooga circuit LCMS congregations are contributing to this worship service, leading the congregation in Luther's hymnody, which will journey through the Christian church year from Advent through Reformation.

The Rev. Gilbert Pingel is the liturgist and Dr. Sarah Harr is the hosting music director and organist. A cake and punch reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall immediately following the worship service, and 500th Reformation Anniversary-branded merchandise will be available for sale before and after the event. Proceeds will benefit the international charity, Lutheran Bible Translators.

Free childcare will be provided, as well as overflow parking with shuttle transportation at The McCallie School, located at 500 Dodds Ave. Call 423-629-5990 or visit www.first4u.org for more information.
