Donations support Shrine Hospital, local black artists

Miller Industries Towing Equipment Inc. donated $10,267 to the Shriners Children's Hospital. The donation was raised through the sale of tow-hook bracelets during the 2017 WeTow campaign hosted by Miller Industries. Shriners Children's Hospitals provide specialized treatment for children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other specialized health-care needs. Sankofa awards $15,000 in grants

The Sankofa Fund for Civic Engagement, an African-American philanthropic initiative founded in 2015, recently awarded $15,000 in grants to local black artists, arts organizations and arts innovators. Among them, a mural project led by the artist Seven and Brainerd High School students, shown. The mural took three weeks to complete and is the focal point of the school's outdoor courtyard.
