Two shows this weekend can help Chattanooga-area Deadheads mark a significant week, the Walker Theatre will flicker back to life with a rock 'n' roll legend and the World's Longest Yard Sale will draw carloads of shoppers in search of bargains. That's just a sampling of upcoming entertainment options. Here's the chronology.
* Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View, has an admission special and a modern dance performance scheduled for Throwback Thursday. From 4 to 8 p.m., admission is free to the permanent collection and $5 for the current exhibition, "Power, Passion & Pose: Photographs by Ken Browar and Deborah Ory." At 6 p.m., dancers from Ballet Esprit will perform choreography inspired by the exhibit. huntermuseum.org

* World's Longest Yard Sale, offering 690 miles of bargains through six states, is Thursday through Sunday. The route follows Highway 127 south from Addison, Michigan, to Chattanooga and then the Lookout Mountain Parkway south to Gadsden, Alabama. Among the Tennessee stops along the way are Pikeville, Dunlap and Signal Mountain. 127sale.com
* Chattanooga Lookouts, a Double A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, take on the Rocket City Trash Pandas this week at AT&T Field, 201 Power Alley. Remaining promotions include Thirsty Thursday drink specials; Agriculture Night on Friday, with a pregame petting zoo and postgame fireworks; Zoo Night on Saturday, with Chattanooga Zoo critters, plus a used car giveaway; and kids can run the bases after Sunday's game. * Artisan Depot Gallery, 204 E. Cumberland St. in Cowan, Tennessee, will open "The Flower Project" on Thursday. Anyone may contribute paper flowers for display in this community art show, whether brought from home or created at the gallery with provided supplies. * In-Town Gallery, 26A Frazier Ave., is showcasing the woodworking art of Roger Harvey this month. One of the major pieces in "Driven To Create" is a wall-mounted cabinet crafted from a 100-year-old piano case. An opening reception is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Friday. www.intowngallery.com

* Back Alley Productions will present "The Great Gatsby," based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, over the next two weekends at the Mars Theatre, 117 N. Chattanooga St., LaFayette, Georgia. * Obvious Dad, a new theater company dedicated to "keeping Chattanooga interesting," will present "The Hairy Ape," the second show of the first season, in the UTC Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St. This adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's expressionist piece puts gender expression and social expectations at the forefront. A headline entertainer in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for almost two decades, Cordell is known for tributes to Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin and Jason Aldean, among others.
