Scooter's Coffee is thanking Chattanooga-area educators with free coffee on Tuesday, which the chain has dubbed "Teacher Appreciation Day."

Teachers who show a valid ID will receive a free drink of any size to celebrate them and the back-to-school season.

"Teachers are inspirations, and they often go beyond the call of duty. For example, teachers spent an average of $745 of their own money on school supplies during the 2019-2020 school year, according to AdoptAClassroom.org," said media liaison Kristen Crawford in a news release.

"Teachers emulate values that we are committed to practicing every day at Scooter's Coffee: integrity, love, humility and courage," Crawford said. "We thank teachers in our communities for their leadership, courage and flexibility, especially throughout the pandemic as they quickly adapted to online teaching. As they look toward being back in the classroom, we wish them a great start to the new school year."

Scooter's opened its first Tennessee location at 7318 Shallowford Road in January and debuted a second location at 4631 Highway 58 earlier this summer. The two locations are among 10 to 15 coffee shops the company expects to open in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area, said Nikolay Timoshchuk Jr,. its chief marketing officer for Chattanooga franchisee Coffee Roots TN LCC.
