TO DO SUNDAY

* The prettiest place to take mom for Mother's Day may be the Southern Blooms Festival, which is also a reminder that the iconic attraction we call Rock City is formally known as Rock City Gardens and has more than 400 native plant species. Admission is $27 for adults, $15 for children 3-12. The attraction, at 1400 Patten Road, Lookout Mountain, is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., but you'll need to reserve a timed entry for your visit. If you can't make it this weekend, the festival continues May 15-16. seerockcity.com

* For many families, a ramble through Chattanooga Market has become a Mother's Day tradition, as it offers the chance to present mom with a gift of her choosing from the array of arts, crafts and culinary creations that the vendors display. And you can throw in fresh cut flowers and a quick meal from the food purveyors. Hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at First Horizon Pavilion, 1826 Carter St. chattanoogamarket.com

* If mom's a baseball fan, treat her to a Chattanooga Lookouts game. Their match-up against the Rocket City Trash Pandas at 2:15 p.m. is the last of a six-game home series that started the season. Tickets start at $7. www.lookouts.com

* Or get her adrenaline going with a visit to Lake Winnepesaukah, 1730 Lakeview Drive in Rossville, to ride the Cannon Ball roller coaster or the 14-story freefall that is Oh-Zone. If thrill rides aren't her speed, there's always the carousel or antique cars. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $29 per person, $20 for ages 1-2 or 60+. You can get $5 off a $29 admission with a receipt from a Chattanooga-area McDonald's. For each receipt redeemed this season, Lake Winnie will donate $1 to the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House. lakewinnie.com.
