Former U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr., D-Tenn., announced today that he will not enter the 2010 Tennessee governor's race.
"There will be another race and time to ask for your support," Mr. Ford said in a written statement.
Former state Rep. Kim McMillan, D-Clarksville; state Sen. Roy Herron, D-Dresden, and Nashville businessman Ward Cammack have announced their intentions to seek the Democratic nomination for the governor's seat.
State Sen. Andy Berke, D-Chattanooga, has said he is considering a run.
Mr. Ford said in his statement that he plans to continue teaching at Vanderbilt University and working as chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council.
