The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a 42-foot house boat on fire at the Browns Ferry Marina this afternoon, officials said.
When Marina manager, Sandy Wilson saw the house boat, owned by Larry LaMunian, on fire, she rushed to free the boat from its docking area to prevent damage to other nearby boats, said Capt. Terri Whiteside, a fire department spokeswoman.
But the freed boat caused minor damage to three other boats when it drifted to the opposite side of the area, Capt. Whiteside said.
The fire department's fire boat responded on the water, while engine crews put out the fire on land, she said.
The boat is a total loss and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, she said.
