A 25-year-old man died late Saturday night from a stab wound to the chest, the city's fourth homicide this year.
Eric Stiles was pronounced dead shortly before midnight at his residence at 1511 E. 46th St. Place in the Rossville Boulevard area, said Lt. Tim Carroll, head of the Chattanooga Police Department's major crimes division.
Police arrested Charles Vincent Hill, 24, of East Ridge, shortly after the incident and booked him at the Hamilton County Jail on a charge of criminal homicide, police said.
Mr. Hill had fled after the incident at Mr. Stiles' home, but authorities found him in East Ridge, said police spokeswoman Lt. Kim Noorbergen.
Mr. Stiles was stabbed in the chest and arm during a fight, Lt. Carroll said.
"Three people in the house witnessed it," the lieutenant he said, adding that the suspect was known as "Vinny the Shark."
Of this year's four homicides, three have been solved.
