Chattanooga: Mother hits child with car while trying to avoid gunfire

A 21-year-old mother, trying to avoid gunfire on Kemp Drive, struck her 3-year-old child while pulling into the driveway.

Not knowing her son was in the driveway, Lia Baylor told police she pulled into the driveway at 4603 Kemp Drive to avoid a large fight nearby where gunshots were being fired, according to a Chattanooga Police Department news release.

The boy received lacerations and abrasions but injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

No charges have been filed against Ms. Baylor. Police are looking into the fight that broke out and investigating suspects.

No arrests have been made, but police are working on suspect leads.
