Two accused in Coolidge Park shooting appear in court

A judge today moved a court date for two suspects in the Coolidge Park shootings.

Anthony Frieson, 18, and Taurean Patillo, 19, appeared before Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman, who moved their court date to Jan. 13.

On March 27, five teens were hit by stray bullets after shots broke out in Coolidge Park. None of the injuries was life threatening.

Hundreds had gathered that Saturday night after an apparent mass text message told people to come out to the park. As police coaxed the crowd to leave, gunfire erupted.

Frieson is charged with five counts of aggravated assault and one count of felony reckless endangerment. Patillo is charged with five counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Steelman said he moved the court date because a ballistics report from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is not ready. The report will compare weapons and shell casings from shooting.
