Hollinquest FTs lift Lady Mocs

Shanara Hollinquest hit two free throws with .9 second left this afternoon to lift the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team to a 68-66 win over longtime rival Western Carolina.

Kayla Christopher made 1 of 2 free throws to tie the game at 66 with 57.4 seconds left. The Catamaounts's Caitlin Hollifield missed an off-balance shot in the paint on the ensuing possession and UTC grabbed the rebound.

After a timeout, Jenaya Wade-Fray tried to drive inside but lost the ball at the free-throw line. She got it back and forced up a shot that was well short of the rim. Hollinquest, who leads the Southern Conference in scoring and rebounding, grabbed the rebound and was fouled as she tried to score.

Hollinquest finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Wade-Fray added 13 points.

This game is the opener of a doubleheader on SportSouth. The UTC men host the College of Charleston at 2:30.
