MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Although he struggled offensively for much of the game, Brandon Herman hit three key baskets in the second half to lead Grace Academy to a 50-44 victory over Oliver Springs in the quarterfinals of the Class A state basketball tournament.

Herman, a Mr. Basketball finalist, made just 1 of 7 3-pointers and was 9 of 21 in field goal attempts, but back-to-back steals resulted in layups to extend the Golden Eagles' lead to eight early in the fourth. And after Oliver Springs rallied to within four late in the quarter, Herman's three-point play again pushed Grace far enough ahead to claim the win.

Grace will play Memphis Westwood in Friday's semifinals at 12:45 (EDT).

Herman finished with 23 points and Taylor Wilson added 11, scoring nine of that total in the first half.
